Bekka Sage and Mason Paul founded the original gallery as part of an experiment. Mason pitched the idea to the arts community in the form of a contest. The reward for the winning idea for a gallery, was a space provided by Mason to accomplish it. Bekka brought in a team of friend to remodel the space. They named the space Synesthesia, Syn Gallery for short. Bekka curated four shows in the 2006 season as well as organized indie film screenings in the space on a bi-monthly basis. By the end of 2006 Bekka decided to step down off of the gallery board due to a film project she was working on at the time.
In February of 2007 Mason and Jonathan decided to rename the space Synthetica as a way to pay tribute to the gallery's industrial settings.

Jonathan Boys was an Co-Executive Director with Synthetica Gallery until March of 2008 when he relocated to Salem, Oregon to open Synthetica Gallery Northwest. In the summer of 2006 he joined the gallery board to help with the gallery design, construction and maintenance.
Jonathan spent the 2007 season curating exhibits and continuing to renovate the gallery space. He held a show of his own photography and paintings in May of 2007 with 100% of the sales going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
